WHERE TO DUMP OLD CELLPHONES IN WELLINGTON

We are pretty sure that many of us Malaysians who come to New Zealand are most likely to end up buying new phones here because some of us just can resist the offers and plans especially when it comes to Iphones. While Iphones and Android phones are the most sought after types of cellphones, we tend to forget the old ones that had been helpful so far. Mine ended up being left under my bed for almost 2 years but hey, it is still working!

But im not a businessman, neither a casanova to have multiple working phones at a time. On top of that, I dont find having a mobile phone in Wellington seem to be that big of a deal. Mine rarely rings except when receiving calls from my landlord and bills companies. So, what should I do with the extra, old, and less useful phone?

So, last week I took a stroll along Courtenay Place and stopped by Telstraclear Ltd. outlet there. As I sat by the counter, I saw this tiny envelope

All you have to do is put your old, unwanted in this envelope and follow the instructions written on the envelope. The important key instructions are:

Remove the battery and wrap separately in paper or plastic before putting the battery and phone in the envelope
Keep your SIM card. They have no use of it
Seal the envelope and drop it off at your nearest posting box or post shop. It is totally FREE!
Do not mail them your phone charger

The phones that can be refurbished will be sold on, with a percentage of the proceeds used to provide vital care for the sick kids at Starship.

Of Bahtera Budaya and RWC 2011

The kick-off has started for Rugby World Cup 2011 here in New Zealand and in conjunction with the much anticipated event, our very own Bahtera Budaya has been invited to promote Malaysian culture through our dance!

They most probably are intrigued and attracted to our past performances here in New Zealand. To name a few, Asian Night Market 2011, and Asian Night Market 2010 . Thanks to the zeal and enthusiasm that our representatives had shown throughout these years, we are now (In NZ) very well-known for out multiculturalism

There are some more events that involved Bahtera Budaya group but unfortunately I have no access to those photo albums nor was I even at those events due to personal bereavement. Hence, not mentioning them in this blog post.

For those who are ignorant of the NZ RWC 2011 Multicultural Week, please be advised that it will be held this Saturday, 17th Sept 2011 at Wellington Town Hall . And for the gist of what will be presented by our team, please watch the following video:

Problem Much With Library's Wi-Fi?

As we are approaching the end of semester 1, I reckon many of us are being enthralled into finishing our last assignments, tests and..whatever. For people who bring their personal netbooks to Uni and staying long hours at the library to finish and apparently submit their assignments, internet disconnection can be seriously detrimental to our mental health system.

Some have reported that Vic Uni's library has not provided good enough Wi-Fi service to its student but pushing my bigotry of going against the system for a while and going around the floor to make some observations, I found out that the reason I could not connect to victoria wi-fi or getting disconnected might have actually came from my computer's problem. I used a Windows XP Pro on a Dell Netbook; while a friend who's also facing the same problem, using a Asus with Win 7 laptop
So here's a way on how to fix the connectivity problem. It was actually caused by Microsoft's problem; due to some resources and it says the problem can be seen much in Win XP-based computers

• Go to Control Panel.
• Choose Administrative Tools.
• Select Services. A two-pane window comes up.
• In the right-hand pane, scroll down and click Wireless Zero Configuration.
• Click Stop the Service. A progress bar may come up briefly.
• Click Start the Service. Again, a progress bar may come up.
• Close the Services window. At this point, Fleishman said, the connection should come back.

Above tutorial is for Win XP, and as for Windows 7, there's no known fix to me and the best tips I could provide for now is to keep trying to connect the normal way and type in https://www.victoria.ac.nz/wirelessvic in the address bar of your internet browsers to get access to the student's login page.

If there's any tech-problem that stops you from being a functional student at the library, you can go to the north end of Rankine Brown's second floor and get help from our lovely technician there.

One thing everyone has in common these days, if not being rendered catatonic with the thought of facing final examinations this coming June, is being choked to death by assignments. Being busy at this hectic time means that we eat less quality food; and by that, I mean, really quality food - not Maggi, not Ruski, and most certainly, not pizzas (although if you want to buy me one, I wouldn't mind)

Having limited or no time at all, we are also limited to our beloved Malaysian cooking and because of that, WMSO is proudly presenting you with our 2011 Malaysian Night Stall!

How to Get Uni/Course Emails from Your Daily Email Account

Hey guys, have you ever felt disappointed of not getting emails from your lecturers or course coordinators due to the fact that you did not check your student email regularly?

Here is the fun fact: Instead of student email, we do check our personal email(s) daily! So, here is the tutorial of getting your student email incoming messages into your personal account!

STEP 1

Um yeah, log into your MyVic account. The normal procedure: go to VUW homepage (link found at the menu bar of this page) and click student email

STEP 2

You will be redirected to a page with this large green button. Click it. No harm done

STEP 3

Here is the normal interface for your student email account. Not as pretty as Gmail but it does the job well. So, here's the point where you will set up the option to redirect incoming emails to your personal email

STEP 4

Find this section (options) from your top right panel and click it.

STEP 5

Find this very section, click NEW and follow the instructions.
Easy as!

Sistem bank di Wellington New Zealand

Hi peeps. It has been almost a week since you guys are here; for the newcomers. I see that many of you have not known much about our banking system in Wellington. If there is any mistake you can voice out your opinion in the comment section. Please check for the answer on the next day.

Needless to say, these two are the most popular bank services among Malaysian Wellingtonians. I hear that National Bank is a daughter company of ANZ; some say it is the other way around, and some other say that they are of sister companies. It's not important anyways.

One advantage of NB credit card over ANZ's is that you can collect points by using their credit card. So, for people who use credit card a lot (like me), it is a sound idea to apply for National Bank credit card.

Anyway, this post is intended to show you a bit about ANZ Online transaction. I know some of us are not tech-savvy and using these things at first could be difficult. No worries, we are here to guide you.

1. Login to your online ANZ account
2. Choose your account

You guys can set another account other than your existing ones should you have any important use of it - like, household account to pay for rent, groceries etc. ANZ charges for this new account since it will be not registered under student account. It will be like $5/ month. Take note!

3. Choose your activity - transfer, pay for bills etc.
Online banking keeps record of every transaction done every single time. If there is any suspicious loss of money occur, you can contact them via their hotline 0800 269 296 to inquire, to make complaints, or even chat with that handsome kiwi dude you had never seen.

4. How to Pay Bills?
In order to pay for bills, you will have to know the recipient name. e.g: If you want to pay for Telstra Internet's bill, just give those ANZ people a call and they will set you a link to pay those expensive bill. Like in photo below.

5. Auto-payments
As far as I know, there is no way that you can set this feature online. You will have to go to the nearest ANZ branch and see any of the staffs and ask them to set an auto payment (for rents etc) for you. Here's the list of what you need when you wanna set that thing I was talking about.

Your account number
Recipient's account number (landlord)
The dates of payment

And yeah, that will take not much of your time. This will be very helpful if you are flatting with your friends since UniHall students pay their rent through accommodation offices.

Selamat Datang, Haere Mai, and Welcome to the Wellington Malaysian Students Organization (WMSO) official blog. This blog provides you with the information about the organization and its latest updates and activities.

Our Mission

Wellington Malaysian Students Organization (WMSO) is an association that acts as a big umbrella for Malaysian students in New Zealand.

Like a family away from home, we try to shield our members from feeling alone/lonely in a foreign country by trying to ensure that the welfare of our members is constantly being looked into. Having said that, we actively hold/participate in awesome events every year to bring Malaysian students together. We also often work hand in hand with our affiliates to fulfill this goal, so there will be more chance to mingle around with people from other clubs or even nationalities!

Basically put, we aim to become a platform for friendship where members can become family... and we're ready take on Wellington & the world, Malaysian style. :)

Our Logo

Our logo is made up of the letters W-M-S-O resembling a keris, a traditional weapon symbolising our strength and spirit without sacrificing our identity.

The M is coloured a vivid blood red, the colour of passion and bravery for the sacrifices that we had to make to be where we are now. The M is emphasized to remind us that we are all, despite our skin color, faith, and perhaps even university course, Malaysians... strong, passionate, brave Malaysians.

WMSO was initially established as a platform for Malaysian students in Wellington to come together and get to know each other better regardless of their race, religion and political standing. Today, WMSO has certainly matured and become more than just that – proving its credibility as a registered club under the Victoria University of Wellington Students’ Association (VUWSA), we are committed to making sure the welfare and growth of our members are very well taken care of, providing them with the opportunity to embrace their time in Wellington to the fullest.

Holding true to the spirit of togetherness and friendship, WMSO is constantly working hand in hand with our affiliates to put forward informative and innovative events for the members to participate in. On top of that, WMSO has also played a significant role for the members and the Wellington’s Malaysian community as a whole by supporting and promoting their involvement in various events all over New Zealand. This only means, more chance to extend your network to other clubs and even people of other nationalities!

Dear all WMSO members,

Have you ever noticed how FAST the time flies? Hey look, it is already one year since the last Annual General Meeting (AGM). And during this time, WMSO would usually hold a new AGM for the next high committee that would be organising the future WMSO events, and specifically for this time round, it would be for WMSO High Committee for 2010/2011.

Just to refresh your mind a little, these are the BIG FIVE of WMSO High Committee 2009/2010:-

President: Kamilah Abdullah
Vice President I: Mohd Aizat Omar
Vice President II: Nurul Adhwa Ali
Secretary: Nurain Nadiah Ab Rahim
Treasurer: Fatin Nur Amirah Shaifudin

These five people have been working hard in managing as well as organising excellent WMSO events for the past year. Well yes, we know that you would miss us (Awww~ So Sad! ), but let's construct the future and make sure that the next WMSO High Committee would be as fun as the previous ones!

But for this year's nomination system, there is a slight alteration. Instead of nominating the people straight during the AGM, we are now opening up the nominations from now on until 3 September 2010 (Friday) at 8 AM. In order to nominate the positions, you can fill up the name of the nominees in a special form that we have created just for you. Please do fill up the form wisely.

Just like last year, there are 5 positions (President, Vice President I, Vice President II, Secretary and Treasurer) to be nominated.

The Nomination Form is attached below.

As the AGM is going to be held during Ramadhan, we would also provide the Iftar during this event. We would be breaking our fast as well as performing our Terawih together. The election would be held in between of breaking the fast and Terawih.

Wellington, 26 Mei - Penduduk kawasan sini melaporkan kawasan kediaman mereka diserang oleh seekor makhluk yang bernama Wellisaurus. Menurut saksi, haiwan ini dikatakan berwarna oren dan besar kemungkinan mempunyai kaitan dengan Wellington Malaysian Student Organization.

Pihak berkuasa WMSO iaitu Cik Kamilah Abdullah menyeru ahli-ahli persatuan untuk menangkap reptilia terbabit kerana dikhuatiri mereka akan diculik oleh pihak-pihak yang tidak bertanggungjawab. Menurut beliau lagi, reptilia terbabit dilaporkan bermastatutin di rumahnya sehingga hari Sabtu ini sebelum waktu event BERSAMA. Sila tangkap haiwan terbabit di 222A THE TERRACE

Pakar reptilia dan haiwan comel sedunia, Encik Panda mengulas bahawa reptilia ini tidak boleh ditangkap dengan cara biasa, kekerasan, mahupun dengan pujukan motivasi. Ia juga tidak boleh ditangkap dengan Pokeball disebabkan beliau bukanlah seekor pokemon. Cara menangkapnya ialah dengan:

membawa wang bernilai NZD22 ke alamat yang telah dinyatakan tadi. Ahli kumpulan WMSO adalah dinasihatkan sekeras-kerasnya agar membawa wang yang cukup dan juga menelefon Cik Kamilah terlebih dahulu sebelum upacara menangkap Wellisaurus bermula. Beliau boleh dihubungi di talian 0210779882.

Hi all,

We are delighted to announce the very first event that would be conducted by MSCW. MSCW or also known as Malaysian Students Council Wellington is a council combining all THREE big clubs in Wellington; Wellington Malaysian Students Organisation (WMSO), Wellington UMNO Club (WUC) and Wellington Malaysian Post-Grad Society (WMPGS).

On behalf on MSCW, we WMSO, would like to announce our very first event, Wellington BERSAMA. This event is basically a telematch event that can be joined by all of MSCW's members. This would be the chance for all of us to get together, especially with people that we don't usually see around.

The details of this coming event are as attached below:

Date: 29 May 2010 (Saturday)
Time: 10 AM - 2 PM
Venue: Botanical Garden, Wellington

As we are expecting there would be a lot of people coming, it would be a fantastic idea if you could bring along some mats for you later on.

During the telematch, each of you would be assigned to a single 'Rumah Sukan'. There would be four 'Rumah Sukan' altogether.

There are several games that would be contested on that day. The games are listed below:

1. Galah panjang
2. Tiup tepung dalam gula-gula
3. Belon berair
4. Isi air dalam botol
5. Baju kreatif
6. Ikat kaki tiga
7. Tarik tali (15 people in one team)
8. Pecahkan belon (Children)
9. Kepit bola (Children)
10. Lari 50 Meter (Children)

In addition to that, some light lunch (well, not so light) would also be provided on that day.

The foods are like roti jala, potato chips and wedges. And yea, obviously, drinks would also be provided.

To make the preparation of this event much smoother a RSVP to this event would be needed. Please do send an email to Nurul Adhwa Ali's email:adh_cutez@yahoo.co.uk

Please put on the email subject as RSVP BERSAMA. In addition to that, please include your name and age. And if you are also bringing your family members, please also do include your family members' names and their ages as well. Besides the joy of sports events happening during BERSATU GAMES in Auckland, there will also be a MALAY parliamentary debate competition organized by Overseas UMNO club. For last year, Wellington team has emerged victorious in the competition held in Palmerston North. Therefore, we are in search of brave Malaysians of Wellington to represent us for this event and retain our first place in this year’s competition. A very good Monday to all WMSO members!

The Easter Break has finally come to an end(!!) and now that we are already starting to resume our second half of this first trimester. As part of the routine, there are tests coming up for some of you, as well as assignments due real soon. We hope that all of you did sort that out during the break!

We know that most of you did enjoy the break as many of you did travel and come back to Wellington safely. We hope that the two weeks break that you had did take away (at least for a while) the endless stress before the break, and may all of us get back on track to finish up the rest of the first trimester, before the final exams (and Winter Break afterwards!)

Stay tuned for the coming WMSO events that would be announced later on.

Kalau ada antara kita yang tak faham bahasa Inggeris, meh cek habaq dalam bahasa Malaysia okay. Haa la ni WMSO ada buat pertandingan untuk buat Tshirt, bukan untuk apa pun, untuk kita pakai la jugak. Baru la semangat malaysian tu muncul.

Benda ni jugak akan dipakai untuk kita pergi sports event BERSATU kat Auckland nanti. Haa jadi kalau baju oren tu cun, nanti terjadiklah dialog dibawah ni:
Orang lain: Amboi segak sungguh naa baju oren hampa. Sapa buat nii?
WMSO: Ohh encik XXX buat ni.

Dalam bahasa senangnya, anda akan dapat populariti, dan juga sehelai baju tersebut PERCUMA sebagai hadiah, dan juga, baucar daripada kedai terpilih Wellington (sila utarakan pertanyaan disini).

2010 WMSO Annual General Meeting

Salam, Kia ora, Hello!

Tomorrow will be WMSO's first ever event for 2010, and we're pretty sure you don't want to miss being a part of it! :D

This event is important because it creates a(n informal) platform to get members to meet or sort out their club registration for those who haven't completed theirs. One of our major aims, however, is to encourage members to build up their leadership & management skills as well as their resume for personal/professional development.

The details are thus:

Date: March 6th 2010 (Saturday)
Time: 10am-12pm
Venue: Meeting Rooms 1 & 2, Student Union Building, Kelburn campus.

In case you were wondering, morning tea will be served (and you can never go wrong with free food, especially by WMSO ;) ). So all you need to do is bring along your friends, get to know new/old Malaysian students here in Wellington, catch up with the ones you rarely see, and just enjoy yourself. It's going to be a good time to mingle around, since everyone's not ~~tearing their hairs out of stress~~ bundled down by a plethora of academic commitments as of yet. :)

For those who weren't around to (re-)register as a member during Club Week (ie. this week), you're definitely able to join tomorrow.

For those who haven't paid the annual fee (Jrs: $10, Srs: $5) yet, you may pay via cash to the 2009/2010 WMSO High Committee as well.

Thanks again for your interest in joining the club, and we're hoping/expecting to see new as well as familiar faces at the AGM tomorrow.

It's that time of the year again, where lecturers and course admins hunt down who's been good+attentive+diligent (and who hasn't) by marking sheets of papers written under high pressure testing conditions. It's heartbreaking to accept cruel reality, but unfortunately, we have to make it public: the Exam Bugs are now back with a vengeance. It is now officially the season of Exam Fever (EF).

There's no way of escaping this EF epidemic, but we do offer a metaphorical pillow to cushion yourself in case of panic, faintness and other symptoms of EF, for (though not limited to) obligatory victims of this EF frenzy.

To put it simply: WMSO folks, we would like to cordially invite all of you to "Majlis Bacaan Yaasin and Solat Hajat" to ease your stress for the exams. Do come and ask for your friends to join us!

So Who's Up for M-Night?

Salam, Kia ora, Hello!

So we've gotten some people who've shown interest in coming to M*Night... but we're pretty darn sure a lot more people are coming... they just haven't informed us yet. What about you? ;)

Of course, being students ourselves, we totally understand and empathise since it's the final week of the study trimester. Everyone's probably bundled down by courseworks and stuff... other things have to be put aside for a while, eh?

Just so you know, this is a reminder that M*Night is happening this coming Tuesday and we are accepting reservations. Please note however, that there's a minor time amendment! To respect Maghrib prayers, the starting time has been shifted to 8.00 pm - 10.30 pm. :)

Some people are worried about the 80 seats issue, but rest assured, this is NOT a problem! This number is just an approximation for reservation purposes. The venue we've booked can easily accommodate a larger number, so if more than 80 people are coming for M*Night, the organising team will ~~battle it out~~ negotiate with the hotel management to make sure those who reserved+paid for a seat will get a seat, and, of course, a spot at the table to go with it. ;)

Do you need more convincing why you have to come? Well... here's some things to entice you with. We've got:

Performances by our very own talented WMSO members;
Awesome food, buffet-style, including vegetarian-friendly dishes and tantalising desserts;

Hope everyone is well and enjoying the fasting month of Ramadhan! :)

We'd like to inform everyone that WMSO is going to have an Iftaar and the preceeding prayers this weekend.

The details are as follows:

Other than the iftaar and prayers, WMSO will also be having our Annual General Meeting during this event. This is held to select the next top committee of WMSO (2009/2010 session).

'Unity in Diversity' Fest!

As many of you would probably know, there will be a Multicultural Fest happening this Sunday organised by Ethnic Council Wellington Inc. Our awesomely talented dancers (and friends) from Bahtera Budaya are performing there to represent Malaysia, and there will also be Malaysian foodstalls and a kompang reception (thanks Affendi for the tip).

Winter seems to be keeping more people indoors these days, but just because we're in doesn't mean we can't mingle!

The New Zealand Malaysian Society are having an event soon-ish and they've invited us to the gathering! There will be food, potluck-style, and badminton will also be played then.

The details are thus:

"Greetings and salam sejahtera

On behalf of the organising committee, I wish to register my appreciation and thanks to all those who attended and supported the potluck gathering and badminton game. The turn out of about 70-80 people of diverse ethnicity in the true spirit of Malaysian Muhibah made this event a success. We were encouraged by the presence of existing NZMS members and many who signed up to be the new members.

The badminton tournament attracted some very talented players and the score of the some of the games was very close. The game was played in three categories: men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles. The young people were included to play in the women doubles.

The tournament was well coordinated by Jay Jay – a fellow Malaysian and the Operations Manager of the Haitaitai Badminton Hall. Thanks to Jay Jay and Wellington Badminton Association.

There was raffles draw to raise fund and the grand price was a complimentary dinner voucher for two at the Palms Bistro Petone valued at $70.

I like to thank all those who brought in a dish and the businesses who supported this event.

I also wish to thank the Malaysian High Commission and Wellington Malaysian Student Organisation for promoting this event.

Our appreciation goes to the Malaysian High Commissioner Dato ‘Hasnudin Hamzah and Datin for attending this event and draw the raffles. Dato’ later gave out the trophies to the winners.

We acknowledge Dato’s effort to excuse himself from his official duty and to fly in directly from Christchurch in time for the closing event. In his speech he commented the organisers for the effort and pledge his support to the NZMS activities.

Last but not the least, I like to thank the NZMS Committee members, in particular Affendi Yahya and Alan Goh for their commitment to make this event a success.

Why the sudden mention of dancing & Bahtera Budaya?

Well, dear friends, we're pleased to inform you that spots are open for two dance teams this year : Zapin & Joget. These are catered to be performed at a cultural festival next month.

Bersatu Transportation & Tees!

BERSATU Games is just around the corner (in fact, it's two weeks' time!), so to help alleviate some of your burdens, WMSO would like to help with your transportation arrangement.

We are going to to go Palmerston North by bus, and we plan to book everyone together so that everyone will be in the same bus. This is open for both athletes and supporters.

Downside is, you will have to pay for your own ticket, BUT you don't have to worry about booking arrangements at all. We'll take care of everything else. :)

For those interested, please give us your names via Aio directly on his mobile: 021-2951035 or YM: aio_015, the very latest by Thursday evening. Please note that places are limited ('first come, first serve') and priority will be given to the athletes.

Due to the hectic academic times, the WMSO Tees team have decided to extend the order period till this Friday (26/06/09) at midnight, i.e. 1 second after Thursday 25th, 23:59:59HRS.

The Bersatu Games are coming up pretty soon and WMSO hopes to minimise the athletes' burden by financially supporting them a little. Plus, we miss everyone and we feel like everyone deserves a pat on the back for almost completing a/another uni trimester. We figured that the best way to resolve these issues of ours is to have a casual meetup, especially in these wintry days in Welly.

Electronic WMSO mails have already been sent out to all its members to notify / remind / announce the soon-ish arrival of this year's Bersatu Games. This time around, Palmerston North's the host of this augural event, and it's going to be held between 5-10th July.

Venue's set, dates are set, so now all we need to get our ball rollin are athletes!

So come on over to our auditions (no Cowell remarks, assured) and trainings (for those who made it, or just to give support)! You can find the pdf version of the schedule here to find out more.

Mixed Futsal '09 : report+pics

Salam, Kia ora, Hello!

We had 7 teams competing at the Rec Centre at Massey Uni today for our 2009 Mixed Futsal event. Suffice to say... It. Was. a Blast. Although the event started a bit later than the tentative 10am, the turn up was good and the weather outside was very pleasant. Looks like the heavens are still with us since our first sports event of the year (Mixed Netball). Alhamdulillah.

Without further ado, let's get on to the juicier stuff. Here's the 411 on the gold, silver, and bronze winners:

AWESOME NEWS!

Chef Haslan, who was in a Wellington Food Show contest, won a prize! He was in the Soup competition and he made Sup Sohun Bergedil (Meatball Glass Noodle Soup), placing him 3rd.

Dear Wellywonderfolks, did you get our fantastic email about the awesome futsal event we're materialising soon? Yes, no, maybe? C'mon, check it out, you're gonna love it (preference of what 'it' refers to is left ambiguous for your pondering pleasure).

Here's the summarised version of this entry:

What?
WMSO Mixed Futsal 2009.

When?
9th May 2009; Saturday; 10am-4pm.

Where?
Massey Recreation Centre, Mt Cook, Wellington.

Why?
It helps to cure boredom, motionlessness, and/or unsocial skills.

How?
$50 per team, 5 to 7 people per group; At least 2 girls on court during game.

Please contact Mika (or) Iqa to book your team. Awesome prizes await! And for those who are intrigued by this fantabulous activity, here's a sight for sore eyes:

Free lunch for players!, i.e. to the teams that are registered to play.

For those who just feel like chilling out (aka sans-futsal-playing) on that day but are afraid of starving, worry not! There will be a food stall open, so bring some cash over on the day because we are not, unfortunately, EFTPOS-compatible.

For those wondering how to get there, people living in the CBD can catch bus #11 : check for stops closest to you.

Today, the morning sky was a brilliant watercolorish light blue and the sun (and not to mention the weather forecast) was projecting promising weather ahead.

After the clock turned 9am, the court started filling in with several groups as they warmed up while waiting for the arrivals of their team members or of their opponent's. By the time their teammates arrived, the players seemed keen to start while the supporters/bystanders looked just as ready to cheer/jeer at the groups.

As soon as the groups in the first match stepped into the ball court, the gameplaying took off wonderfully.

Mixed Netball on Sat 11th

As we all (hopefully?) know, it's the last week before easter break! Only a few more days (or courseworks) away before the jollydays come tumbling around. On that note, what better way to wind down and relax than to join in WMSO's easterly Mixed Netball event this weekend~ :D

Mixed Netball

Date: 11th April 2009
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Venue: Kelburn Court, Salamanca Road [map]

The main purpose of the league is to provide great opportunities for all of you to get to know each other better and most importantly, have fun!

How to join?

Wonderful question! Here's a basic idea of how the games are going to be set. There will be...

7 players for each team
2 boys per team (now now, girls, let's not be too hard on the guys, alright? ;) )

And that's basically all you need to know, really. Don't worry about the rules now, it will be explained to you on the day itself. In other words, as long as you can jump, run, throw and catch a ball, count yourself eligible!

Hello Wellingtonians!

Hello Wellingtonians! WMSO would like to wish all of you 'Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir dan Batin'.

So, how's your celebration going on so far? Good? Well, we hope that you have a very great Eid Mubarak in Wellington this year.

Also, we heard that some of you had classes and test this morning. Awww... sorry to hear that. But it's ok guys. Raya kan sebulan. So, we have a lot of time to celebrate Hari Raya and meet each other.

On behalf of MSD, we would like to thank everybody who came to Hicomm this morning for Solat Sunat Eidulfitri. It was so great to see everybody happily shake hands and seek forgiveness from each other. May Allah bless all of us in this month of Syawal.

Salam, Kia ora, Hello!

Bahtera Budaya (lit. 'Cultural Vessel') is a dance group made of Malaysian students based in Wellington, New Zealand. The group has performed numerous dancing styles for special occasions, particularly cultural events. Their dances range from cultural/traditional to contemporary, and they are assisted by creative and experienced dancers of diverse backgrounds.
